The Great White Throne is a mountain of white Navajo Sandstone in Zion National Park of southwestern Utah. The north face rises 2,350 feet (720 m) in 1,500 feet (460 m) from the floor of Zion Canyon near Angels Landing. It is often used as a symbol of Zion National Park. The Great White Throne can be seen from most locations along the scenic drive running through Zion Canyon.

Rising more than 2,400 feet above the floor of Zion Canyon in Zion National Park, The Great White Throne strikes awe in all who look upon it. In 1916, a Methodist minister named Frederick Vining Fisher, visited Zion Canyon. His guide, a local boy named Claud Hirshi, led him into the canyon and together they were inspired to name many of its prominent features.

Overwhelmed at the sight of one particular monolith of white Navajo Sandstone, Fisher uttered these words:Never have I seen such a sight before. It is by all odds Americas masterpiece . . . I have looked for this mountain all my life but never expected to find it in this world. This mountain is the Great White Throne.”
